I've been mining the opal fields of Lightning Ridge for over 25 years and luv it!. Living an opal miners life has been a rewarding experience - The people who live in 'The Ridge' are friendly, genuine and all in all just bloody great people. The lifestyle is laid-back, but energetic and vibrant as well, and of course the 'champagne' climate can't be argued with either!

I've been electro-forming opal with sterling silver and gold plate since 1998, turning beautiful opal into beautiful jewellery I also have a passion for the unusual & interesting, click here to see what I mean! My father Joe was a hawker who ventured into the outback in the mid 60's selling goods from the back of his truck. Traveling from town to town he discovered Lightning Ridge and saw the potential for a family furniture business coupled to the idea of striking-it-rich from opal.

The furniture business is still operating today and is known as 'Joe & Son's Bargain Bazzar'. The business is still run by my brother (Rick).
